NordForsk backs NORD-AViD anti-virulence network
We are thrilled to share that NordForsk has funded NORD-AViD: Nordic network for Anti-Virulence Drug Discovery and Delivery, and our lab is part of the team. The network is led by Prasanthi Medarametla (University of Eastern Finland) and links partners across Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway to develop therapies that disarm bacterial pathogens instead of relying solely on traditional antibiotics.
Through NORD-AViD we will collaborate on target identification, medicinal chemistry, delivery strategies, and translational models for virulence inhibitors. Our group will contribute proteomics-driven target validation and in vivo infection models to move promising candidates toward preclinical testing.
The award comes from NordForsk’s February 2026 call supporting new Nordic research networks in natural science and engineering. The consortium will organize workshops, short research visits, and shared technology pilots to accelerate anti-virulence pipelines across the region.
